This is the kick off to my blog that I hopefully will be "diligently" writing in throughout my studies in Morocco. I'm not usually too good at keeping journals or anything but I will do my best to at least do an entry once a week or even just upload photos.
This first entry is going to be short and sweet because I'm leaving for Europe tomorrow for the month of August. Basically my trip will start in London for five days then my friend Lindsey and I will be flying onto Milan, Italy. From Milan the plan is to head to to Florence then Rome where we will take the Ferry to Barcelona, Spain. After some time in Barcelona well head to Madrid for a couple of nights and then my friends and I will be parting ways at the Madrid airport where I will be flying on to Rabat Morocco.
I will be in Morocco though the middle of December studying Arabic (which I'm so excited for!), and a course called Multiculturalism and Human Rights post Arab Spring. Part of the reason why I chose this program in addition to the topics of focus and the location is that opportunity it presents for me conduct my own research project on any topic of my choosing. I'm hoping to be able to finally combine my two majors of International Studies and Religious Studies into one project!
So since I'm kind of freaking out right now about navigating Europe and I am 99.3874387% positive I am forgetting to pack something, I'm keeping this blog entry short. I will miss you all and thanks for reading all of this! I may not be able to write another entry until I arrive in Morocco but I will do my best! Also thanks to my few select friends that came to the traditional "watch Mel freak out about packing and end up packing for her" (Jordan). Here are the cakes that my friends and family got for me tonight! :D Thanks for all your support everyone. Love you all!
